Budhwar Peth Bazaar – Set Design Concept Ideation

This project was created as a set design ideation for a Marathi television serial, focusing on building an authentic and lived-in marketplace environment. The goal was to capture the essence of an old Indian bazaar street, inspired by real locations like Budhwar Peth, Pune.

The process started with detailed line work to establish architecture, props, and spatial composition. This was followed by grayscale value exploration to define lighting and depth, helping to guide the final mood. The final render focuses on warm, natural lighting to evoke a late afternoon atmosphere, bringing life to the street through subtle storytelling elements like vendors, carts, and everyday objects.

Special attention was given to traditional architectural elements such as wooden balconies, narrow street layouts, and layered shopfronts. Props like fruits, utensils, fabrics, and carts were designed to enhance authenticity and support the narrative of a busy marketplace.
A secondary camera angle was also explored to better understand spatial continuity and how the set would function from different viewpoints, which is crucial for screen production.

The project also includes real-world references used during the ideation phase, helping ground the design in reality while maintaining a stylized visual approach suitable for screen production.
